Gas Facilities Should Be Protected on a Par With Military Ones

Strikes Have Shifted to Gas

Gas production facilities today should be protected on a par with military ones, because the destruction of civilian critical infrastructure has become part of the enemy's military doctrine. Since 2025, the focus of strikes has shifted from generation to gas infrastructure: fields, pipelines, gas distribution stations. The February strikes temporarily took out about 40% of domestic production; after the October strikes, the drop reached 60%.

The Logic of Survival

Full physical protection of a gas facility cannot be built – such a system itself becomes a magnet for missiles and drones. Since lead times for critical components have grown from three to eleven months, companies are forced to keep a one-hundred-percent equipment reserve: "It works, but it is the logic of survival, not development."

Protection Built Into the System

The state's systemic response is a decentralised, distributed power system with protection built into the system itself: shelters, air defence of key nodes, cybersecurity, redundancy and modular equipment. The logical next step is to integrate critical gas production facilities into the overall air defence system.
