Why agriculture

Oleksandr Katsuba calls land the country’s most valuable resource: it does not lose value, and a hectare in Ukraine at USD 1,500–3,000 remains competitive against the EU. The second argument: agriculture is still the main source of foreign currency for a wartime economy.
In December 2024 he founded Landex Agro and chose the hardest place — the de-occupied communities of the Kharkiv region. The logic is the same as in gas: go where others do not dare and build the company on technology and data.

Land after the occupation

Work on liberated land starts with demining. Of the 52,800 ha land bank, 14,800 ha were still mined as of June 2026. In August 2026 the company received certificates for 3,297.84 ha in the Oskil community: those fields go back into cultivation, and the community budget will get about UAH 3 million in taxes.
The harvest here comes under fire: in July 2026 alone up to 150 ha of wheat were destroyed in the Izium district. Combines move under anti-drone nets, and the safety of operators and agronomists is the company’s first priority.

Technology and communities
The farm is run on precision agriculture: machinery, inputs and field work are tracked in real time on the Agrocontrol platform, and drones watch the crops. The rotation goes beyond the big three: besides wheat and sunflower — flax, rapeseed, peas, chickpeas and soy.
The other half of the model is the communities: cooperation with small local producers, a first social project — a clean-water well in Nova Ivanivka — and jobs and taxes where there had been none since the war began.
