Position
Assessments, recommendations, vision
Ukraine barely imports gas because chemical plants and steel mills are idle or running at a minimum. Real independence is domestic production that suffices once industry comes back.

Gas production: Alpha Gas

In 2022 Oleksandr Katsuba founded the private gas producer Alpha Gas. The company holds four subsoil licences in the Poltava and Luhansk regions with total reserves of 13.5 billion cubic metres. Its focus is deep drilling: wells beyond 5,000 metres, where, by the company’s estimate, most of Ukraine’s untapped gas potential lies.
In 2026 he became a co-owner of Nadra-Geoinvest, one of the three largest private gas producers in Ukraine. His public position in the industry is subsoil reform: returning dormant licences to the state, a separate tax regime for deep drilling, and protection of gas infrastructure.

Alongside staple crops it is scaling niche ones — oil flax, chickpea and soybean.
